In 2015 Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust became the first laboratory in the UK to install the Sebia CAPILLARYS 3 analyzer to perform HbA1c testing and Hemoglobinopathy screening. In this presentation Jason will talk about the decision-making process behind the adoption of this technology and in particular about his team’s experience in hemoglobinopathy diagnosis. Jason will also be presenting some case studies in order to show the practical application of Capillary Electrophoresis in the day to day setting of a busy screening laboratory.
Jason began his career training as a Biomedical Scientist in the early 90’s at the Hammersmith Hospital, London, during which time he qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical science. Following appointments at Senior Biomedical Scientist level at Southend University Hospital and Harlow Princess Alexandra Hospital, he now lives and works back in his native Sheffield. Jason is the Lead Biomedical Scientist for Hemoglobinopathies and Red Cell investigations at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and the ‘Expert Assessor’ for the NEQAS Abnormal Hb EQA scheme.
